Born into the illustrious Moussaieff family in Jerusalem, Orna grew up surrounded by the legacy of jewelry craftsmanship. Her mother, Chana, a third-generation jeweler, managed a successful store in the prestigious King David Hotel. Her father, Yaakov, played a pivotal role in introducing the renowned Brinks cash security company to Israel.
As a young girl, Orna was immersed in the world of jewelry. Spending time in her mother's store, she absorbed the art of jewelry making, learning to string pearls even before she learned to walk. This early exposure laid the foundation for her future in jewelry design.
Orna's connection to pearls runs deep, influenced by her grandfather Rechavia Moussaieff's ventures in America, where he found a burgeoning pearl industry. His journey from Jerusalem to the pearl-laden banks of the Wabash River in Indiana not only shaped his destiny but also sowed the seeds of Orna's future passion for pearls.
Yvel's signature lies in honoring the natural form of the pearl. Each design is an ode to the pearl's unique beauty, with gold crafted to enhance its luster and form. This special treatment of the pearl speaks to the brand's philosophy – to complement nature’s artistry, not to overshadow it.
